Panama City - an unexpected stop for us since we were originally supposed to go to Ecuador. We booked a tour at the last minute so we're up bright and early - well early anyway. A bus took us through parts of the Old Coty and out to a boat. In the boat we went out to the Panama Canal portion in Gatin Lake where there are numerous islands some with wildlife.
The best view of a sloth I have
Terrible picture of a white faced monkey. (I was shooting into the sun )
I have an adorable video of some tamarind monkeys which I'll post on FB.
It was interesting, not nearly as hot as Costa Rica, but we may stay out of small boats for a while!
Panama City has the Old City and a brand new modern city with an impressive Sky Line. Because of the port situation we couldn't get off the bus in the city. Would have had to take another shuttle bus to a mall then a taxi into town. It sounded doable until we came in from the bumpy boat ride and realized that a Tylenol and a nap would probably be better for us.
Tonight was White Night on the ship where everyone wears white and there is a special buffet then a big musical/dancing event.
Because of the threat of rain it was decided to still have the buffet but have the entertainment indoors in the entertainment center Still pretty cool. We'll have 9 more.
3 days at sea before Trujillo, Peru.
Tomorrow there will be a couple of lectures on Peru. Plus on the other activities of a ship. Stay tuned!
Heard from Cheryl. We were in the midst of planning something in the summer, but the recent troubles in Guayquil have put everything on hold again. Glad you are skipping forward to Trujillo. We visited there in 79. Enjoying your updates!
