Fakarava was scheduled as an Azamazing Day. After setting anchor we were tendered in but a lot later than planned and we didn't have a long day there. We were met by a small island band and instructed to just walk "that way" which turned out to be a bit further than comfortable. In a large open meeting house there were tables where you could weave flowers for your hair, or hat, pineapples with straws to drink from, a band and dancers, etc. but we were so late to the party that it was at the tail end. Our goal was the beach which was another long walk in the sun. That was not disappointing however. Just a little sandy beach on the side of the road with crystal clear delightfully cool water. Truthfully it was pretty rocky walking in but worth it.
Fakarava has 18,000 population and seems a tidy, pleasant way to live even though it was very hot and humid the day we were there. There was not a lot to see/do in the limited amount of time we had there.
